Popular 3-course meals for pre-theatre dining

Pre Theatre Food
June 22, 2023

If you’re making a trip to the theatre, the chances are you’re looking to eat out as well. Many London theatre-goers come to the West End from the home counties or beyond, so the theatre and dinner combination suits them perfectly, whether they’re catching a matinée or having an evening out.

Our restaurant is located within Troubadour Theatre, just a 30 minute stroll from the auditorium. If you’re short on time, we offer an express menu as late as 7pm for a quick burger or falafel wrap before the show.

Or, for a more leisurely pre-theatre dinner, it’s always nice to celebrate the occasion with a tasty three-course meal. Here at Studio Five Restaurant, our à la carte menu includes bold dishes made with quality produce – perfectly designed to set you up for an enjoyable show. Here are our top three 3-course meals for pre-theatre dining.

The classic: Oak smoked salmon, slow cooked beef and warm brownie

If you’re a fan of classic restaurant dishes, this is the combination for you. The silky texture of smoked salmon pairs beautifully with the dense texture and earthy flavour of homemade rye bread, while the addition of whipped horseradish butter lifts the whole plate with a pleasing zing.

Follow that with slow cooked beef that melts in the mouth and is accompanied by braised fennel and a fresh, vibrant carrot puree. You can also add a side of fries if you’re feeling naughty! Top it off with a warm brownie and vanilla ice cream.

The flavoursome: Homemade naan, sea bass and Eton mess

If delicious, full flavoured dishes are what you crave, begin with the homemade naan bread, topped with beef keema, coriander and lemon. The combination of warming spices and zesty citrus is delectable. Follow up with a plate of soft, succulent sea bass, accompanied by a fresh herb salad and tangy capers that cut through rich brown butter.

Finish with the sweet and sharp Eton mess, which blends delicious summer fruits with crunchy meringue and whipped cream.

The vegetarian: Tomato salad, chargrilled miso aubergine and crème brûlée

Vegetarians have plenty of choice, but our pick to start is the tomato salad, also suitable for vegans. This starter offers lots of flavour and texture thanks to the addition of pickled shallots, crispy focaccia croutons and a salty black olive dressing.

The chargrilled miso aubergine, another vegan dish, brings a taste of Japan to your meal, with the deep umami flavour of miso complemented by cauliflower karaage, cured cucumber and sesame dressing. End on the sweetest of notes with a rich, velvety crème brûlée topped with crunchy sugar.

Whether you’re looking for pre or post-theatre dinner, Studio Five Restaurant provides both express and main menu options that will satisfy your appetite. Enjoy a relaxed, modern ambience as you dine on delicious food made with quality ingredients. Take a look at our current menus or book a table.
